The first thing that you should know about me is that I LOVE teaching. The most rewarding thing for me is when I see students understand a concept that they were intimidated by and then realize the great potential they have to learn.
I have been teaching Spanish at the university level since 2014. During this time while completing my degree, my research focused on how adults over the age of 30 learn languages and how it impacts the brain. I realized during this time that many older adults would love to learn Spanish but never had the chance. This is why I created this class. It was also apparent that many individuals felt that the time had past for them to learn a language. This is not the case! You can learn to speak Spanish with confidence. Take President Nelson as an example if you have any doubts.
I demand that my classroom be a safe environment for us to learn together. Learning a language puts us in a very vulnerable position. Many of us have not been in a learning environment for a long time and we might feel intimidated by this. Please be assured that my classroom is an area where you will feel safe to make as many mistakes as possible without being belittled or reprimanded. Making constant mistakes is necessary when learning a language.
When it comes to questions, ask away! I love questions. Even if I have answered the question 10 times already, please ask it again. I want the material to make sense and I promise that questions never will bother nor will I be frustrated with you if we have to keep working with a certain concept.
